About the Author: John Passarella

John Passarella, Author Photo: 2014I am a married father of three, and reside in Logan Township, New Jersey. Currently, I write full-time (that is, when I'm not working on business, my website design and author promotion business, AuthorPromo.com). While I enjoy writing in the genres of dark fantasy, supernatural thrillers, horror, science fiction, fantasy and mystery, I have been concentrating on horror and supernatural stories in recent years.

The co-authored Wither was my first published novel. Columbia Pictures purchased the film rights to Wither in a preemptive, pre-publication bid. Wither won the Bram Stoker Award in 2000 for Superior Achievement in a First Novel. I followed Wither with the media tie-ins Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Ghoul Trouble (2000) and Angel: Avatar (2001).

Next came my stand-alone sequel to Wither, Wither's Rain (2003). In 2004, I had two novels published, Angel: Monolith and Wither's Legacy and two standalone novels, Kindred Spirit (2006) and Shimmer (2009), available from Amazon.com and the Passarella Author Store.

I've written four original Supernatural (CW) tie-in novels for Titan Books, Night Terror (2011), Rite of Passage (2012), Supernatural: Cold Fire (2016), and—my most recent tie-in novel, Supernatural: Joy Ride (2018) —the last two of which were preceded by a Grimm tie-in: Grimm: The Chopping Block (2014), based on the hit NBC TV series. My most recent novel was the novelization of Halloween (2018).

Writer Organizations

I am an active member of the Horror Writers Association (HWA), the International Thriller Writers, a member of the International Association of Media Tie-In Writers (IAMTW), and a member of the Garden State Horror Writers, now sporting a new name and URL, the Garden State Speculative Writers. Sadly, I am a lapsed regular member of The Authors Guild.

Other Interests

Running: I've taken up regular running, since September 2013. I've logged over 3,500 miles, two half-marathons and a bunch of 5Ks. My goal is 100 miles per month, roughly 25 miles per week.

Web Page Design: Since 1996 I've been coding my own web pages. Since 2003, I've been professionally designing, hosting and maintaining websites for (many) authors and others. Visit www.authorpromo.com for more info.

Graphic Arts: I also enjoy drawing in the real world in addition to tinkering with computer graphics programs. I began telling stories by drawing them. To this day, doodling helps me work out the plots of my novels.

Comic Book Collecting: I've gone through at least two periods of collecting comic books. Though I'm not in that mode/mindset currently, who knows when the bug will strike again?

School Ties

I graduated from Interboro High School (Prospect Park, PA) and Widener University (Chester, PA). That's the Buccaneers and the Pioneers, respectively.
